EXPOSED: The Top 17 Makeup Secrets Your Personal Makeup Artist Never Told You About!
Hello girls,
As a makeup artist, and as someone who has been in the industry for 4 and half years now, I will expose some of the top secrets of the trade that the majority of the makeup artists do. They are little secrets that work really well, save time, save money and give off a great result in the end. Every makeup artist have their own little way of doing things and here is a compilation of most of the things we do that are super smart.
There you go:
1) We disinfect our brushes between appointments with Alcohol. It is the best instant brush cleanser and the most guaranteed for hygiene. This type of Alcohol is very safe on the face too. Don't Worry! I will do a video for that soon.
2) We don't buy brow kits. We use matte brown regular eyeshadow.
3) We use an after shave balm as a makeup primer. Yes, we do!
4) We hide any mistakes in our liner by lightly smudging it with black eyeshadow. We are human, we make mistakes too!
5) We use shimmery champagne eyeshadow as a highlighter. Multi-tasking at its best!
6) We don't buy 200 foundation bottles like everyone thinks. We buy 4 or 5 major ones and we keep mix and matching to get all the colours in between. We are chemists in our free time!
7) We turn any shiny lipstick to a matte one by asking the clients to blot with tissues. Apply, blot. Then apply, blot. Then apply, blot.
8) We use a concealer under lipstick to help lipstick stay longer. Lasts way longer than it should.
9) We use disposable sponges once per client. We are too lazy to clean the beauty blenders plus its more hygienic this way.
10) We apply eye makeup first, clean the mess and then do foundation, concealer, contour and lips.
11) We hide pores by cutting a makeup sponge (wedge) in half and using those ridges in between to dab the primer then dab the foundation on top. After that, we use loose powder with a fluffly brush in circular motion on the pore area.
12) We control the shine for clients with oily skin by applying primer first, compact or loose powder and then foundation and then powder again. Yes, my dear we do things differently.
Primer, powder, foundation and then powder. They don't have to be these brands but you get the idea, right?

13) If we have a pink foundation that doesn't match your complexion and we want it to be more yellowish tone, we add yellow food colouring to it. Yes, we do! I swear we do.
14) We use a slanted eyeliner brush to apply lipstick so that our lines are just perfectly in place. Hmmm. Multi-tasking geniuses again.
15) Under the eyes, we mix powder and highlighter for a very subtle glow. A dab of powder mixed with a dab of highlighter on a fluffy brush and under the eye it goes. That's a Kim K trick by the way.
16) We contour with a regular matte bronzer. Contour kits are not entirely important for us.
17) We add loose powder to a sheer foundation to increase its coverage. Get a plate, apply some foundation in it and add a few drops of loose powder. Mix it very well. Apply it normally on the face. More Coverage. Your welcome.
Those Makeup Artist's secrets are between me and you. What happens here stays here. Shhhhhh......
