The same toothbrush that cleans the teeth can be a harbour for bacteria!

Hello Girls,

It is true that toothbrushes have to be changed every 2-3 months. Using toothbrushes more than this period of time is actually causing more harm than good to your teeth and gums. Many diseases, such as periodontitis or gingivitis, are mainly caused by an abundance of bacteria flourishing in the mouth and on the tongue.

It is also worth noting that disinfecting your toothbrush during the acquired three-month period is also a must. The last thing you will ever want is clean your teeth in the morning with the left-over bacteria on the bristles from last night's wash. Here are many different alternatives on how to disinfect your toothbrushes safely for you and your kids too!

1) Microwave your toothbrush for 30s once every week. Just place it in the microwave for not more than 30s and it will be completely sanitised.

2) Place your toothbrush in Listerine for 10 minutes once or twice a week.

3) Rinse your toothbrush in Apple Cider Vinger or Salt water two or three times a week before brushing.

4) Never leave your toothbrush lying on the counter as there might be a risk of cross-conatmination from the bacteria on the counter to the bristles.

5) Get a disinfecting Ultra-Violet Steriliser toothbrush Kit. Got mine from Bin Sina Pharmacy. Many shapes and brands are also available in Canada , USA, China and Europe.
