The Only Effective Product for Sun-Burns. Don't think of going to the beach without it!

Hello Girls,

Sun-burns are inevitable. Men and Women get them with different degrees, but eventually by the end of the season you will find that 6 out of 10 people have major sun-burns that, not only ruined their look; but has completely ruined their vacation.

Why do sun-burns happen?

The skin is usually not used to the excessive amount of exposure to the UV rays as well as the heat. It tries to protect itself, as much as possible, from all this sudden change in atmosphere by reacting aburptly through certain biological mechanisms to protect the skin from any DNA damage that happened from the UVB light rays.

One of the mechanism it undergoes is, an increased in melanin production which is the mechanism responsible for the automatic skin darkening. Since some people admire being tanned, they tend to take this habit too far. They push the body too hard to increase its melanin production by staying several hours in the sun to make themselves look as dark possible on the first few days of their vacation. What happens to some people is, unfortunately, the body can not deal with such a shock to its regular environment and this process tends to back-fire instead by causing extreme first and second-degree burns.

The most important after-sun product that you must apply whether you have a sun burn or not is: ALOE VERA GEL.

This is the product that will heal your skin, cool it down and completely soothe it once it starts getting painful. This natural stuff works like magic. Do not think of going to the beach without it. Use it after you finish your tanning and keep using it every hour after you shower. It is not oily, transparent and odourless, so keep applying as much as you want. There isn't any specific brand that I recommend. The most important thing to take note of is, it has to be at least 90% natural aloe vera.

How do you know if you have a sun-burn?

1) Skin will turn extremely red and not dark.

2) Skin will feel extremely hot even when you are sitting in an air-conditioned atmosphere.

3) Skins feels extremely soar to the slightest touch.

4) Wearing clothes that touch the burnt area feels very painful.

5) Tossing and turning in bed is a complete nightmare.

6) Blisters and fluid-filled sacs start to show where the burn occurs.

7) Excessive skin peeling happens to most areas of the body.

How to prevent that from happening?

1) Take tanning gradually. Don't go and stay six hours in the sun for the first few days. Increase your hours as you start getting used to the heat.

2) Wear protective sun-screens on face and body.

3) Wear tanning oils only specified for that purpose. People who apply cooking oils, aromatherapy oils or baby oils are damaging their skin.

4) Shower with ice cold water or jump in a very cold pool after you finish tanning. This will guarantees a decrease in body temperature and will diminish the probability of a sun-burn.

5) Wear hats as much as you can.

6) Stay under the umbrella once you feel your body is getting extremely hot.

7) Keep yourself extremely hydrated. Drinking ice cold water and juices will cool your body down and will prevent excessive burning.

8) Anything that you apply on your body, face, lips and hair has to contain some degree of SPF.

Take your beach packing seriously as this is the most important step to guarantee a lovely tan without any side effects.

Tomorrow I will write a blog post about my new favourite summer beach products for 2015.
