An earth-goodness home facial treatment your skin will love.

Hello girls,

I want to share with you an amazing facial treatment that I have accidentally tried and got hooked on. I have always read about the amazing skin benefits activated charcoal can do.
Charcoal is great in absorbing all sorts of impurities, cleans pores very effectively, smoothes the skin surface, reduces redness as well as pigmentation and kills acne-causing bacteria.

The type of charcoal that I use for this treatment is actually the pharmaceutical charcoal that is used for bloating, constipation and stomach problems. Yes, that's the one!

You can find them either in capsules or tablets. Do you know the difference between both? Well, the tablets are the round hard ones, whereas the capsules are the gelatine-coated cylinder ones that contain powder inside.

Capsules:

Tablets:

Both are exactly the same in terms of usage. However, I find that using the capsules is so much easier as the only thing you need to do is open it up and take the powder inside right away. If you are going to use the tablets, then you will need to crush them to powder form. Just an extra step!

Brands on the market: Of course, any brand would do as long as it is 100% natural.

Facial Mask Ingredients:

The first thing to do is get the charcoal powder and mix it with Aloe Vera Gel. Mine is 99% Aloe Vera and I get it from any organic store. The more the percentage the better. Aloe Vera Gel is a must have in your skin routine. Your face will love this natural goodness. More about that later!

Adjust your mask according to your skin conditions:

  • If you have excess oil production on your face and you need to regulate it, add 3-4 jojoba oil.
  • If you have pimples, add 3-4 Tea Tree oil, Lemon oil or Lavender oil.
  • If you have dryness, add 3-4 Sweet Almond Oil or Argan Oil to the mixture.
  • If you have dull tired skin, add 3-4 drops of Castor Oil.
  • If you have normal skin, then Aloe Vera and Charcoal powder is good enough. On lazy days, I just mix both together but of course adding essential oils helps a lot with many skin conditions.

Leave it on for a good 15 minutes and then wash it off. Voila!

Note-to-self: Always remember to wear something old as it might stain. Also, make sure to open the capsules very gently so that the powder doesn't scatter. One more thing before I go, if you find it hard to open the capsules, just cut it with scissors from the top.
