The right detailed steps for the perfect facial at home.

Hello girls,

I have been getting a lot of requests for this particular blog plot. As promised, here is my step by step routine for doing my weekly facial at home.

You will need:

1) A bath robe

2) 2 slices cucumber

3) Soft music, candles, dim lights

4) Essential oils preferably lavender.

5) A bowl of hot water

6) A skin milk cleanser

7) A facial wash

8) A facial exfoliator

9) A facial Mask

10) A toner

11) Mositurizer

12) A towel.

The first thing yo need to know about doing a facial at home is that it has to be a calming and a relaxing experience. Facials are the only way to clear the skin of the impurities and to clear your mind of the world. Use it as your way of tuning off from all the chaos around you.

Setting the right atmosphere for your facial makes a great mood alleviator. Candles, dim lights and soft music are always a good idea to prepare your mind and body for a tranquil experience. A bathrobe is also a must to prevent any masks from spilling on your clothes. A great soothing smell is also very important to help you sooth your senses.

Step 1:
The first thing you need to do, whether you have makeup on or not, is that you have to clean your face with a cleansing milk and a cotton pad. Great cleansing milks are by Nivea, Boots, Himalaya, Bodyshop, L'Oreal, Bioderma, Sephora and Nuxe.

Step 2: Wash your face with a facial wash and splash with warm water to help open the pores. Great Facial Washes are by L'Oreal, Pharmaceris, SebaMed, and BioDerma.

Step 3: Exfoliate your skin with a facial scrub in a circular motion for 2-3 minutes to help get rid of clogged pores, oil built-up and dead skin. This is a great way to prep your skin for the facial mask. Great exfoliators are Clean and Clear,  and St. Ives Apricot Scrub.

Step 4: Get a bowl and fill it with hot water. Place your face on top of the bowl so that all the steam reaches your face from all angles.  Do this for 2-3 minutes. You can apply some essential oil to the bowl of water to sooth your senses.

Step 5: Apply your facial mask around your face and do not come near the areas around your eyes. If you are applying clay masks do not leave them until they are fully dry and cracking. If you are using soft masks like yoghurt or Honey you can keep them up to 20-25 minutes.

Step 6: With a wet cotton pad remove the mask from your face and give your face a very good rinse to make sure there isn't any mask residue. Make surety splash your face with cold water to close your pores.

Step 7: Tone your face with your favourite toner and then moisturise.

PS: If you are a busy mother, try to make this weekly routine at night after you put your kids in bed. After all, nothing destroys the experience of a good facial more than the sound of a crying baby :)
